Why Grounding Feels Hard: How to Move Stuck Energy and Reclaim Your Peace

Welcome back to Part 2 of the Energy Reset series! In this article, we're going deeper into grounding—an essential practice for reclaiming your peace and managing your energy.

If you’ve started grounding and noticed that it sometimes makes you feel more anxious or uncomfortable, you’re not alone. This is actually a common experience, and today, I’m going to explain why it happens and what you can do about it.

Why Grounding Can Feel Uncomfortable

When we bring our awareness back to our body, we often become more aware of what’s been hiding beneath the surface—feelings like anxiety, fear, anger, or grief that have been pent up over time. These emotions were already there, but we’ve become skilled at ignoring them.

As soon as we begin to ground and pay attention to our bodies, we start feeling everything that has been building up. Naturally, this can feel overwhelming, and it’s why many people give up on grounding too soon. But here’s the good news: you can move that stuck energy, and when you do, you’ll experience the true power of grounding.

The Key to Moving Energy

When you feel those uncomfortable sensations while grounding, it’s important to understand that they are just energy, and you have control over what happens with that energy. You don’t have to stay stuck with it.

The key is learning how to move the energy out of your body and release it into the earth. This is where grounding becomes more than just a visualization practice—it’s about working with your mind and body to manage and clear your energy. Here’s how you can do it.

Step-by-Step Grounding and Energy Release

  1. Focus on Your Breath: As you start grounding, begin by taking a deep breath. Feel the air entering your nostrils and filling your lungs. This breath will bring you back into your body.
  2. Notice What You Feel: Pay attention to any discomfort or tension in your body. Is there tightness in your chest? A knot in your stomach? Wherever you feel it, recognize it as energy that’s asking to be moved.
  3. Move the Energy: As you breathe, imagine the energy flowing out of your body and into the earth. You can visualize it in any way that works for you—whether it’s like sweeping it out with your hands or imagining the energy as a ball moving down into the ground. The important part is that you are consciously guiding it out.
  4. Ground it Deep: Visualize the energy moving through your body, down past your feet, and deep into the earth. The earth has the power to absorb and recycle this energy, so trust that it will be taken care of.

Why Moving Energy is Critical

When we first start grounding, it’s easy to get stuck in the discomfort and think something is wrong. But the reality is, that discomfort is the energy that’s been trapped in your body for a long time. The more you practice moving that energy, the more you’ll notice that the feelings start to dissipate.

Once you’ve moved the energy, you’ll often feel lighter, more at ease, and more grounded. This is the power of grounding in action—it allows you to release what’s no longer serving you, creating more space for peace.

Make Grounding a Daily Habit

Even if you only have five minutes, practicing grounding and moving energy every day will make a huge difference. You can do it while standing in line at the store or sitting in your car. The more you do it, the easier it becomes, and the more natural it will feel to release tension and anxiety as it arises.

You don’t need hours to reset your energy—just a few minutes a day will help you stay calm, balanced, and ready to face whatever comes your way.

What Happens Next

As you continue to practice, notice how the energy shifts. You might start feeling more peace or even moments of clarity where there used to be anxiety or stress. If you stick with this practice, it becomes a tool you can use any time you need to reset, whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by daily life or by deeper emotional patterns.

Ready to Reclaim Your Peace?

Try grounding twice a day this week, once in the morning and once in the evening. Set a reminder on your phone to help make it a habit, and start noticing the shifts in your energy.
