What rollercoasters teach you about energy

What rollercoasters teach you about energy

How's your summer so far?

As I work with clients this summer, we teach something super simple that tends to get left out but is crucial to our understanding of energy healing.

And it’s this: your awareness of energy.

Seeing people share their photos of their summer vacations gave me a perfect metaphor to help my students deepen their understanding of their own energy.

My students loved it so I thought I’d share it with you, too. You can also use it to help you understand your children and their energy.

It’s that time of the year when amusement parks are spilling at the seams with lines of people, sometimes a hundred long, waiting to get on park rides.

Did you know that your preference for amusement park rides can give you a clue about how to best approach your energy healing?

I’ve always been amazed at how many adults like visiting amusement parks and will travel hundreds of miles to ride on a rollercoaster. Usually, when I’ve asked someone why they like rollercoasters, they talk about the excitement they feel when they are on the ride.

But what causes the excitement?

I dated someone once who loved rollercoaster rides. When I asked him why he loved them so much, his self-awareness impressed me. And his answer was precisely why I don’t like rollercoasters.

He said he loved the rush of adrenalin, his heart beating out of his chest, his body accelerating, decelerating, dropping suddenly. He loved the feeling of putting himself in danger, putting his life in the hands of the engineers. The danger is very controlled, he argued. He was, he said, statistically speaking, very safe.

If I had to choose between all the rides, I tend to prefer the Ferris wheel. It’s pace is much slower. Although I wouldn’t argue that it’s safer than a rollercoaster.

Did you know the Ferris wheel is also called an observation wheel? That’s my favorite part. Being high above, I usually have enough time to see all around me. I get a beautiful view of the park and well beyond it.

Most rollercoasters go so fast, though, you don’t have time to appreciate the view. That is if you have your eyes open at all.

These two rides are perfect metaphors we can use to understand our healing journey.

Sometimes what we experience happens so fast that the only thing we can do is hang on. There may be times when we feel the rush of excitement and other times when we feel like we’re plummeting towards a crash, only to be lifted again when we least expect it.

Other times our journey may feel like we are going round and round, like we’re on a Ferris wheel that we can’t get off of.

We may get perspective when we are high up, we may even feel like we’ve found the answers. We may feel the illumination of being high above. But soon enough we are back down sometimes more confused than when we started. Then the cycle starts again.

Both the rollercoaster and the Ferris wheel give us a sense of motion.

These adrenaline-inducing rides give riders permission and an opportunity to FEEL and to yell at the top of our lungs. Like my date, who liked the rides because he wanted to feel the adrenaline rush.

In a culture in which we are too often forced to hide or dampen our feelings and stay silent, this is a welcomed relief.

Whether it’s a rollercoaster or a Ferris wheel, if you were on it too long, eventually you would get bored.

Maybe we find we are learning the same lessons or getting the same messages. That’s what these rides do. They take you round and round but never really take you anywhere. You end up in exactly the same place. You get off where you got on.

Do you or your children like rollercoaster rides? or hate them?

Your preference holds a secret you can use to better understand your own energy (and by extension that of your kids).

When you are investing your time, energy, and money on healing, you want to make sure you feel good (like the high we get on those rides) but you also want to have forward motion.

You don't want your energy healing to take you on a ride but not really move you into the future you want for yourself and your children.

Being able to feel (and I’m not talking about emotion) and knowing how we feel is an essential step in healing and being able to successfully integrate a healing experience.

But not everyone is the same. Hence, our preference for the rollercoaster, Ferris wheel, or neither.

I want to invite you to a Live Event I'll be leading on August 3rd in which

I’ll reveal how your preference holds a key you can use to unlock better results from your healing.

You’ll learn more about this essential process that I call Energy Calibration.

You’ll get an opportunity to do this process with me directly on the call.

Your ability to do Energy Calibration is the first step you need so you can step off what may feel like the hamster-wheel of energy healing and personal development.

And if you’re wondering why some energy methods work for others but don’t work for you, this may be the key.

You’ll get more details about the event next week. For now, click here to make sure you get on the list to receive the invitation.

Next week, I'll share a short video where I explain Step 1 of Energy Calibration. This short lesson will help you get ready for the Live Healing Event on August 3rd, 7pm CST.
